Allison came to us having already lost big weight in the past, but because of big life circumstances, like moving to a new city, a lack of support systems, and a history of weight loss attempts, she just couldn’t maintain it for the long haul. When she started at Fit House with us, she was motivated by seeing her peers doing more than she could. They were running marathons and living active lives, and Allison just felt like she couldn’t keep up. She’s now lost over 115 pounds since starting at Fit House, and today she is a more active participant in life.
Getting to this, though, was not easy. Allison tried many things before she found us. With a long history of sports, gym memberships, group fitness programs, medical fitness coaching, and every nutrition plan under the sun, Allison had a lot of weight loss starts and stops and trauma to overcome.
This time, though, Allison got the 3 things she needed most to be successful:
- Structure & accountability
- A fun environment
- A supportive community
We’ve always known the kind of program clients need to be successful. We know they need to build their metabolism by building muscle, and we know the only way to do that is through strength training. We also know clients need a specific kind of strength training plan; we can’t just lift some weights and do 3 sets of 10 of everything and hope we end up fitter and healthier.
But we also know that the accountability, environment, and support we can provide at Fit House are the things that our clients remember and appreciate the most. And Allison is no exception to this! After struggling with her own weight issues and lack of necessary support systems, she’s found a few here at Fit House. She’s found a supportive trainer, a supportive community of fellow gym goers, and a close friend. When Allison started, she began working closely with another of our newer clients, Amy, and the two are now great gym partners and friends. They push one another to be their best, and they support one another with accountability and challenges.
In this interview, Allison and Chris discuss everything from Allison’s prior experiences with gyms, what nutrition programs she did in the past, what her goals were when she came to Fit House, what results she’s seen since she’s now lost 115 pounds, and what she wants to do next.
Hint: There are chin ups in Allison’s future!
What Allison needed was what we consider the core of our work at Fit House. She needed to strength train to build muscle and boost her metabolism. She needed a nutrition plan that was sustainable and could fuel her muscle building and her fat loss at the same time. And she needed a plan—and not just any plan. People often think they can get results from a plan and then just use that same plan to maintain. It doesn’t work that way. What gets you those first results are not what will get you to the next level nor through maintenance, and we specialize in creating plans that adjust and adapt as your body does. Through these three core tenets, Allison has achieved amazing results and *will* get a chin up!
We can help you achieve this, too. We help clients from all over WNY, including Buffalo, Kenmore, Tonawanda, and Amherst, achieve their health and fitness goals. Click here to learn more about us and to sign up for a strategy session to see if you’re a good fit for Fit House!
